Tricks and Tips for troubleshooting DAC22XX (2202/2200) Seatel antenna
Tips for troubleshooting a DAC22XX wiht antennas like XX04/XX06 etc.
Recommended Sat TV 75 Ohm Coax Types:
DAC2202 Seatel ACU
To navigate the menus in the DAC, from settings to settings use NEXT. To enter deeper down in the menu you will have to access with ENTER. To access service menu HOLD ← → for 5 sec until you access AUTO TRIM and brows onwards with ENTER. To quick access to REMOTE PARAMETERS hold down ← → for 1 sec.
DAC2202 Error 8-Code
Common Error Code:
Its also possible to have several faults like error 0020 or 0012, just add the error code above.
User Interface DAC2202
Its important that the LAT&LON are correct and the GPS update, to re-target satellite or acquire satellite the control unit use LAT&LON to calculate Azimuth and Elevation.
Heading (HDG) is also important due to vessel movement. As describe above this could easily be checked, by changing LAT and see if the GPS update or change the HDG to see if it change back.
The Gyro input for the ACU is NMEA 9600 Baud. And have a 10sec refresh rate.
If you LAT/LON are correct and the correct satellite input are OK. You should have the area too look for your satellite.
Also be aware if the GYRO (HDG) is wrong this could be an issue.
Are all the settings correct like, LAT, LON, HDG, SAT etc you should find the satellite when moving to the calculated location.
(Within +/- 2 degree).
How to decode Error 8 with Dac 22xx
DAC2202 Remote not responding
Description:
When connecting up the system, and you use COAX cable direct from ACU to Antenna, and have the
communication error: REMOTE NOT RESPONDING
INFO:
One problem that could cause this are the JP3 in the DAC2202, by default this will be set to normal FSK modem. And assume you use FSK up in the antenna and down in the Rack. Most TVRO antenna do not have FSK modem down in rack, so JP3 need to enable pin 2-3 to get the J4B connector as main output.
How to fix the problem:
Make sure J4B are connected to the antenna, and RF-In have tracking signal from Multiswitch etc.
If all cables above are connected correctly you should have communication between ACU and ODU. Should you still have an issue with the control unit given you: REMOTE NOT RESPONDING. The jumper settings need to be checked inside DAC2202 unit.
Open ACU top and check the following:
After moving the Jumper 3 into 2-3 position, assembly back the unit and connect J9/J4B and turn on power.

Change tracking Frequency, on a DAC2202
If tracking freq are not correct on ACU (DAC2202) and loose of signal, could be the Frequency have been changed from satellite operator. This antenna system are tracking on Vertical high, so then we need to find frequency in this range.
Best place to get the update frequency for THOR satellite are on this link:
https://spacenorway.com/satellite-connectivity-solutions/broadcasting-services/1-west-tv-channels/#
Now let’s find a Vertical high freq:
how to find a low or high freq:
History 2 HD are a high band. We also need to convert this to IF to add in the control unit: 12687-10600=2087 Mhz
Start screen on ACU:
Click NEXT to this screen:
Now click enter to add info in this screen:
Enter in the FREQ, remember if you only have the sat freq on Vertical High u need to remove 10600 (like 12687-10600=2087.
We can also add in the rest of the satellite info (Hit ENTER):
We see the BAUD are 28 800
Tone ON due to high freq
we don’t have 3/5 settings so just use ¾ or AUTO.
SKEW and NID we can keep as 0000
Now if we have a good signal and you see the TV signal we can use auto tresh or Fixed threshold. On the system now we had peak signal at 2020 and off 1910, we fixed the threshold to 1955 as the tracking threshold.
